where we're at now
tend was founded by sisters Kathryn Hatheway and Jennifer Flores. Our work grew from a pattern we kept seeing across our own lives, the rooms we taught in, the people we supported, and the organizations we worked inside: people were rarely lacking insight. What was missing was often the ability to carry that insight into behavior, rhythm, relationship, decision, and structure. So we began building a practice around that gap. We built tend by practicing tend.
together
We bring different instincts to the same work. Kathryn tends toward pattern, possibility, movement, and the emerging signal. Jen tends toward sequence, structure, timing, and what will help the work hold. Together, we work across the personal and the organizational, the embodied and the structural, the energetic and the practical. Because what matters rarely lives in only one place. The body and the calendar. The relationship and the role. The insight and the operating system.
what we believe
What matters has to be carried. By bodies, relationships, rhythms, and structures that can support it. Desire is information. Losing the thread is not failure. Return is a practice. Capacity is not only the ability to do more. It is the ability to receive more, choose more freely, create, respond, and remain present to your own life. Rigor and pleasure belong in the same room. A good system should create more room for life, not require life to serve the system. tend does not tell you what is true. Signal belongs to the person or system. Our work is to help create the conditions, practices, and structures that make it easier to notice what matters, act on it, and return when the thread gets lost.
